Dr. Jerry Shapiro, MD, FRCPC
After receiving his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree from McGill University, Dr. Shapiro underwent specialty training in Dermatology at the University of British Columbia.

In 1985, he was awarded fellowship status in Dermatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada. Dr. Shapiro is currently a Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science  University of British Columbia.

Dr. Shapiro is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Canadian Dermatology Association, and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.

In 1986, Dr. Shapiro founded and became Director of the University of British Columbia Hair Clinic. Since then his work in the field of hair research has become internationally known. He is a sought after lecturer and worldwide authority on hair diseases and has been interviewed on this subject on numerous occasions on national and international radio and television.

Dr. Shapiro has been a visiting professor in Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia, Israel, and throughout the USA.

He has become a well known figure to the press on hair related matters and has made a lifetime commitment to hair research. Dr. Shapiro has authored and co-authored numerous publications on hair biology and hair diseases and wrote the definitive textbook “Hair Loss: Principles of Diagnosis and Management of Alopecia”, published in 2002.
